Hello working on a DR trimmer.
825 series BS 12Q577-0113-B1 .
Had been setting for years gassed pulled cord started and quit primer bulb leaking. Cleaned carburetor Wouldn't restart. New carburetor starts when it wants then no
So new magneto, pops back thru carburetor, won't fire on starting fluid.
Checked valve setting, flywheel keyway, ground wire off magneto,nice blue spark in BS spark checker
It's like it has a switch but there's no reason.

I would check your valve clearances.
Remove the valve cover, rotate the engine to Exhaust valve open (down) check INTAKE clearance with feeler gauge, while engine is cold.
and vice versa.

Intake 0.004 − 0.008 in.
Exhaust 0.004 − 0.008 in.

Update
Reset magneto with feeler gauge parallel to the flywheel instead of perpendicular.
ten thousand brass feeler gauge .motor started.
I didn't think it mattered .
Must have been 2-3 thousands wider the perpendicular way .
