I recently had the tensioner spring snap.
In all fairness i did not replace it with an oem spring i got a spring from a hardware store until my dealer has one in stock.
Since re attaching the drive belt the mower blades will dis engage when i mow long grass or mow for any period of time.
It will re start after about half an hour.
But then it will happen again.

Do yo have an electric or manual PTO? You say 'drive belt', I assume you mean deck belt? Does the PTO disengage?
If the electric PTO disengages, the PTO may be failing. When the problem occurs, shut down the mower and carefully feel the temperature of the PTO and deck pulleys. A very warm to hot one will mean the bearings are tight and the pulley\PTO should be replaced. Also, if electric, the belt should be tight, but not like a guitar wire.

It is an electric PTO, was working fine brfore i switched the spring.
Yes it is hot when i shut it down.
The belt is pretty tight it was very hard to pull over the last pulley to get on.
I have a new OEM spring, i am going to remove the deck, check everything over, install with new spring.
Hopefully that should resolve it.
