I have a Simplicity 6218 and was wandering if anyone has or know where I can find a belt diagram for it ? It is a 48" cutting deck.

www.simpletractors.com This site will have all you need just follow what is there to find info on your tractor. If you make sure the belt runs straight across the back and of course wraps around the outside pulleys just route the belt around the idlers and center pulley as it would look like it would go. It can not go on wrong if you run the belt straight across the back. This goes for any deck.

The folks at Woods that built the 60" deck for my White GT 2055 must not have known that. First time I had to put a belt on it I messed with it for half an hour before I got out the manual.
It has three blades. That may make a difference.Attachments

I hope you find the site useful. Type in 1690695 in the space for finding and downloading manuals and click on operators manual/english. On page 25-27 you will find the pic showing the correct belt placement. The above number is your tractor model #. If you have trouble as I said in a previous post run the belt straight along the back side of outside drive pulleys and go around the front arbor and around the back of the two idler pulleys and looped toward the drive pulley on the tractor.

Many times it is different on rear mount equipment but have not in my experience seen a different lacing on a mid-mount mower. Would love to hear from those who have and also the horror stories of deck repair. We all know the success of any mower is the deck. Bad cutting deck = bad mower. Should also have stated in earlier post "most all decks" route belt across back to outside arbors. At any rate that is what manuals are for, right.

Dragline, sorry I was not trying to dispute your statement about the belts, just telling of my experience with the White.
The deck on my White is a mid-mount, but it looks like it would not be that hard to convert it to a rear mount or pull behind. The original design might have been to use as a rear mower. It has a driveshaft. I seldom use it now since I got the 7' finish mower so I may convert it to a 3 point to use behind my 2N.
Just checked and the belt for the 50" is routed the same way as the 60". It is not nearly as heavy duty as the 60".
Even though the 60" is an OEM option for the gt2055 it seems like it was an after thought. The gearbox on the deck sits a little too high, so if you raise the deck more than an inch or so the driveshaft hits hard parts of the mower.

I have had the same experience up to now with belt routing.
Why even bother having a forum here. If you have a mfg number just go directly to the source. Simplicity User Manuals and Instructions
The purpose of having a forum here is to share our experience and our technical knowledge in a way that is helpful to others. The original question was answered and additional help was given for future reference. Everyone that views this forum will learn and share what they know. In the 40 years I spent in the outdoor power equipment business I learned something new every day, forgot something everyday, and surely helped someone new everyday. Hope to learn and to help on this site.

Very well said Dragline. I, for one, learned that on almost all decks the belt runs straight across the back. With that known, if I follow the grooved and flat pullies, it will not be that hard to figure out the belt routing. I didn't even ask the question and I learned something.
Sounds very much like "prosthelytizing" to me. Instead of sharing here, why don't they just have the link to the MLF Simplicity forum go straight to ST. It would certainly save us having to wait for someone to come by to inform us of the other discussion site.

There is a lot to be said for the friendship and camaraderie that comes from helping and being helped by folks that know the answer. I, for one, really enjoy the friendly tone and nature that a forum can take and work hard to preserve that atmosphere. Not only that, but many people also found out that there are on-line forums available now that they have read this thread. All sorts of help can be given and share in addition to answering the original question.
