I have a John Deere 180 and the battery light came on after replacing the ignition switch. Can anyone PLEASE tell me why ? New ignition switch, new voltage regulator, new battery and stator is putting out 36v AC ? ? ? ? ? :help:

Have you checked the actual voltage at battery? Our 180 machines are getting old, might be chafed wire?

What he said. You have to check the DC voltage at the battery. It should be in the 13-14VDC range with the engine at full throttle. If not, check for continuity in the wiring between the regulator and the battery.

Thanks guys, I got it figured out now. It was the glass fuse in the line from the voltage regulator. Fuse was not blown to look at but must have been broken inside at base, no continuity.
