I made a cardinal mistake by torquing head bolts on 27hp kohler after replacing head gasket with ft/lbs wrench and didn't catch it until I had torqued to about 100 ft/lbs.
It calls for in/lbs instead.
I backed off the bolts when I discovered this mistake.
Will I now have to buy another gasket kit and do it again or can I use the same one?
This motor came on my Cub Cadet Super LT1554.

Welcome to MLMF, Tork!

Can't tell you how many times that's happened.

Yep, figure a gasket and new head bolts to boot. You should check the head and cylinder mating surfaces with a machinist straight edge and .0005-.0010 feeler gauge to make sure they're not warped. If everything checks out ok....you're good to go.

Thanks Mark, I'll let you know how it turned out.
