We got the first mow of the year in today. Just a small part of the yard but still fun. The machine of choice is the 2006 John Deere X520 with 54 inch mower.
First getting the sticks out of the yard.

Next the mowing.

First off, nice machine, they are sure a pleasure to use the say the very least!:)

No, haven't mowed yet this year here, grass is still very dormant. Normally our lawn starts to perk up mid to late April and then starts growing like crazy. Still a week or two away yet from fertalizing it yet.

The hardest decision is going to be what machine to use for the first cut of the season.:)

Thanks for the compliment I love this tractor. I wish I had to pick which machine to use but this is the only one that runs. I haven't used any fertilizer but do mulch the leaves in the fall.

We are still suppose to get snow here in New England so not just yet.
It hasn't snowed here in two months. Hopefully when you do get to mow you can get lots of seat time in.

It's fall when I get the most seat time and use the Honda also.
Down here its warm enough in the winter to get seat time. So I stay on a tractor just about year round.

We're still several weeks out before anything is tall enough to cut. Highs in the low 40s°F and some snow flurries on the way will slow it down some.

But it is pretty and green. Nice to see green again!

Need mowing, but dreary day with snow in forecast. Look forward to 1st mow, but then about August saying "slow down, I need some free time". Use a JD X345 and a Gravely ZeroTurn. Purchased the ZT last year and still learning to operate. The ZT is fun to operate. The ZT are not as easy to operate as it appears when see them operated by a pro.

We only had some flurries here. I watched it on radar skirt to our South. Once in awhile we get an inch or so in April. So it would not surprise me to get a couple more light rounds in here yet of the white stuff. On the plus side it don't hang around for more then a day or two. No more shoveling needed! :D

We had a light dusting of snow two mornings last week, but I think spring is here to stay now...finally. We had a nice warm period over a few days about a week and a half ago and I took my tractor out for a drive, but it will be a week or two before the lawn needs to be mowed.

Normally for me it's a good two months away yet. But I don't know what to make of this year yet. We've had a covering of snow come in April before. I hate to think of winter hanging around late since it has been mild. But also worry if it continues being mild right into Spring we are going to have more severe storms then we normally get with the change of seasons.

It's that nagging feeling of when the other shoe will drop that keeps bugging me. :D

Yup,

We're still a good three months away from any mowing. No sunshine or any kind of warmth in sight here yet!

They say we could see some snow on Sunday.

Its been a mild winter this year. I guess this mowing season will start a month after last years. Its just to wet right now. Can't even get into the garden with the rear tine tiller.
