Hello:

I have a Briggs and Stratton engine on a tractor I inherited and the engine needs some work. The model number on the engine shroud is worn off so I can't determine the full number.

It is a 14.5 HP, I can read the following numbers only 2???07. It is 14.5 HP so I am pretty sure the 2nd number is 8, and it is a vert shaft so this reduces the possibilities for the 4th digit as well. It is the 3rd digital that is critical in determining such things as carb, etc. that I really need.

Can anyone advise if there is another way to find a PN for this engine?

Thanks.

Sometimes the engine model number will be listed in the owner's manual for the tractor it's mounted on. If you don't have the manual, they're usually available through the manufacturer's web site.

I thought the valve cover(s) had the # stamped on them

Worse case scenario, if it's the carb you are needing parts for, the carb has some id#s on it as well. Once you get it off, you can also determine what you have.

(FYI, this is a resurrected thread although, still good info for anyone. :2th: )
