This sounds like a VERY easy fix.
First thing to do is get the numbers off the engine. Might be a group of numbers/letters mixed. Then, at the very least, get a new needle and seat for the inlet in the carb, or go ahead and get a total carb rebuild kit. This will be a relatively easy task. Just be careful not to lose any small parts and follow the directions on which side of the seat goes into the inlet first. It DOES matter. A can of spray cleaner is probably a good idea as long as you are taking things apart.
