Hey all, I know motorcycles and cars but dumb when it comes to mowers. I turn the key and I get this clack-clack-clack noise and I see the head turning in synch but mower won’t start.
Trying to load short video but not sure how on this site.
I went to a local Toro dealership but they were absolutely no help with being a little rude to boot.

Any help/insight would be greatly appreciated.

If you're familiar with cars and motorcycles, is the "clak-clak-clak" like a solenoid chattering from low battery voltage? Have you tried pulling the plug(s) and see if it turns freely on starter?
I have not. Not gone much into diagnosis since I guessing if I was able to post a video on here showing what’s it’s going most of you would probably tell me what the issue is or where to start. I work nights (LEO) and don’t have much free time.

Hey, basically a cycle engine rotated 90 degrees. I agree with laser. Not enough info. Solenoid with click, or chatter, if weak power to it, or bad ground. Could be starter gear chattering on the flywheel. Both would not have engine turning over. Could be leak in head gasket or rod knock. As he said, pull the spark plugs, the engine should spin freely without noise. Should have good compression (finger over spark plug hole). If quiet, but noise appears with plugs in, check compression again. Pull valve cover and check valves opening correctly. Check valve lash. Bad head gasket, for me, usually is a popping sound.
