Hi all, I picked up a 1991 Toro in the garbage today and need some pointers before I open the bottom up. It was most likely thrown out because..... although I haven't tried to start it yet,.... when I go to engage the blade brake and pull the recoil the blade just wobbles side to side and doesn't spin. . I don't want to start it till I figure out why.The crank is not bent. Before I open up the bottom cover any ideas as to what the problem could be? I think I see a slipped off belt around the crankshaft in there, maybe that's the problem?

Please let me know anything I need to know, or what you think the problem may be.
Thanks!

It might just be the bearing in the BBC is bad. It is the bearing that allows the engine to run with the blade stopped. Roger

Hi Roger, I cant seem to remember if it did the same thing with the brake disengaged. I"ll look tomorrow. How easy is it to replace the bearing, and what kind of tools would I need?
