Rather than leaving this topic hanging regarding the attachments I'll give this a conclusion statement.

It doesn't sound too promising and I won't go into all of the details out of respect for privacy sake for the other party but it's basically due to confusion.

I talked with him again today and explained as kindly as I could with many items of evidence that I strongly believe the machine that he described to me is the one that I bought and that I also did not see any tractors in their garage. As I mentioned last week, the garage is full to the brim but I told myself when I was there that I better be thorough enough to confirm there isn't or otherwise I would always wonder if there maybe was.

It didn't work so I asked if I could buy the attachment(s) but he doesn't want to let them go.

I may have another idea but it looks like I'll be on my own to find any other attachments for this machine.

Poor guy. Well, at some point there will likely be an auction or estate sale and without the tractor the family does not have much need for the attachments. So you may get another chance at them then.

I was thinking along those same lines too and, yes, I do agree.

A little Bit of Root Pulling

We're planting a couple of new trees in our yard and over this weekend I was preparing the ground were one was going to go in. There used to be a couple of larger Apple trees in the area and while the stumps had already been ground, there was still a root system making it difficult to work around.

There was one fairly larger root that didn't want to budge so I hooked Economy up to it and yanked it out. Nothing too crazy, but it was fun to get the tractor out. Here is a clip of it in action. Sure do love this 'ol tractor. :)

Yup, he likes to be involved with everything. Good to have the company.

It looks like you and your ol' buddy are having a blast with that cool old tractor!
Good times!

Great video Austen!

Like Eric said, the engine RPM's Barely even changed when hauling that stump.. Great Low end gearing!

Nice dog too!

Thanks Kori,

I really didn't know what it was going to do but low and behold it didn't have any problem.

I've never been in a situation with it before where its lost traction. It will be interesting if we get any decent snow this year how it does in that.

Makes ya' wanna' find more things to pull up, out and around...if for no other reason than because you can.
It sure does! I wish that I had more uses for it other than mowing in the summer. Probably 90% of the time that I have it out is simply to drive it around and exercise it.

You guessed it! Yesterday officially marked the one year anniversary of ownership the Economy.

Taking a quick trip down memory lane, I vividly remember the excitement pulling it home and seeing it on this side of the chain link fence for the very first time. Like you do with most any piece of vintage machinery when you first acquire it, you begin making a list of everything you have planned for it which makes the anticipation go through the roof! I feel like over the course of the year of ownership that I've pretty much checked most everything off the list and also did a few improvements here and there that were not.

Anything New?

1. In terms of updates, not too much new other than installing a new rear differential gasket. The few times that I've had it out this year, it had begun leaking and marking its territory everywhere so it was time. Original diff gaskets are no longer available for these machines so you either have to use gasket maker, or, create your own gasket. I decided going with the latter and made my own which I felt is worth the extra time.

2. So far this year I've mowed with it twice. As you know, one of my goals with this project has been to maintain reliability and prevent the chance of failure if and where possible. An unexpected surprise came up last night while mowing, one of those new idler pulleys that I had purchased last year completely failed which ended up taking out a belt a long with. The part that is most frustrating is that it was not even an original part on the tractor but rather a new part. The sleeve that runs through the bearing race is completely gone (tons of play) which resulted in a bad wobble which led to a chewed up belt. I spoke to Jerry, explained the situation, and he said that he has not heard of this happening before so all that I can figure is that it was faulty unit. I'm thinking I may just simply remove the idler pulley assembly on the deck altogether and run the next size shorter belts. This probably sounds a little shady to you, and if it doesn't work, lesson learned, but I've used the deck successfully before without the idlers (when I first bought it and removed the seized ones prior) and it worked fine, even with the extra slack. To be honest, I've kind of lost my faith in these and don't want to bother with replacing expensive parts and tearing the deck down for an unacceptable reason again.

I figured I had to do something special for the anniversary so I've included a show a review outlining everything that I've done to it as well as a couple of different action clips.

Thanks guys!

Gonna work on the deck and get it fixed this weekend as I'm determined to mow with it once or twice more before I move down to California. My family has already told me how much I'm going to miss it, lol.

That machine is a beauty Austen, thanks for showing the videos!
Thanks! They're fun to make.

Well, Happy Anniversary!
One down, many more to go!

Thanks for taking time to make and post the videos Austen!
After listening to that first one, I see that narration is not my forte, lol.

Thanks for taking interest and following along, Bruce!

I consider myself fortunate to rescue it as it had been in the beginning stages of heading down the wrong path.

It's such a gorgeous machine! I wish they still made them like that! Thanks for sharing the vids, and happy anniversary!
Thanks man, and me too!!

Nice rig Austen!! Congrates on having the anniversary!
