Hello,

I am hoping someone can give me some ideas of what could be wrong with our Cub.

The Last time we had it running the switch caught fire. It was immediately put out. The switch was changed and it started, but when we turn the switch to shut it off, it would not turn off, so we unhooked the battery.

Now, the engine starts turning over as soon as the battery is hooked up. Don't even have to turn the switch. BUT it don't start either.
The starter was changed and did not help. Any suggestions???

Might be the solenoid. If it is stuck in the closed position power would go to the starter immediately but the ignition circuit is still open not allowing the engine to start.

Pull off the small wire on the solenoid, has the starter stop, if yes check/replace the ignition switch, if not replace the solenoid.
When you say that the switch was replaced did you mean the ignition switch. if so was it the same type, did you refit the wires on the same post, recheck them.
