Hello all,
I'm new to site and was wondering if anyone has any info on an Eclipse push mower. It has two large wheels and one small adjustable wheel mounted to a vertical rod/plate. I looked on ebay and saw a brochure and I think it is about 1954 but not sure. I'll try and post some pics when I figure out how to do that. My plan is to restore it. So I will need some color information when it comes to painting it.....

Right now the Briggs vertical shaft engine has no spark. Do these engines have points? Is there any known failures that I should know about regarding the electricals? Hope to here some input.

Neat mower!

It should have points and condenser under the flywheel. First thing I would check after pulling the shroud would be for cracks in the wires going to and from the coil.

Here's an online version of good book that I bought the hard copy of 30 years ago about Briggs engines:

How to Repair Briggs & Stratton Engines | Scribd

Provided the engine is the original the numbers from it could also help to verify the manufacture date.

Here's a description of some engine codes: (If memory serves the older the engine, the codes were more cryptic.)

Thanks for the complements guys. Here is the number I found on the shroud. 6BH 900202 I think that is the model number.

Serial number is 5804090. I didn't find anything that matched dead on in the Briggs info. The coil has a three prong contact. It also has apoints eliminator on it. I will be replacing the plug wire soon and hoping that will correct spark.

Replaced the plug wire. Cleaned up coil and regapped it and she fired up!
On to to a total nut and bolt resto. Found paint so I'm commencing to sandblast parts. Anyone know if the rear small wheel is supposed to be red or green?
