craftsman self propel problems

I have an older Craftsman 22" self propelled push mower that no longer propels it self. If I engage it the front tires lock up and nothing happens. Any ideas what might be keeping it from moving

I would suggest taking the wheels apart and seeing if one of the nylon gears has broke and is getting stuck. My2cents - I don't understand why they use plastic/nylon for something that should be metal, just sayin'

as mentioned its most likely the gear has broken and jammed it

another thing is check the drive belt isnt jumped off the crank pulley and wedged

You can only learn if you ask the question, so there are no dumb questions.
