Hello from SoCal mowerhoarder in training

Hello all, Harry from Southern Californiaís Beautiful San Fernando valley... where itís so hot and weíre so poor the lawn is dead. Hey letís start collecting lawn mowers!
It all started back when I was a kid and started mowing grandmas lawn with that beautiful 19Ē green lawn-boy bricktop.
My love affair with machines sure got a big start there.

Of course for a long time I thought I knew more about them than I actually did. But as iím Now growing old iíve Learned quite a bit and iím Actually getting handy with the handful of broken machines I have sitting around.

The current scorecard stands at...
Craftsman s/p 6.75 tecumseh (rebuilding)
Craftsman eager-1 5.0 tecumseh
Craftsman 2010 6.75 quantum
Craftsman 80th anniversary s/p e-start hi-vac 8.75
Cub cadet SC 500 E+ s/p e-start (with the conjoined twin battery in the top!)
Honda HRS-21 (coming soon)
Lawn boy bricktop (model number to come soon)
Lawn boy medallion (10533)
Mclane rotary hi-vac 5.5 quantum
Murray generic small frame 5.5 quantum
Green station battery 24v (spoiler battery)
Black and decker battery 36v

Scottís 1642 lawn tractor deere built (rebuilding)

Phew I might have forgotten a few donor machines in the yard as well.
I guess it all became an important hobby quite recently as my mother has very bad allergies and I needed to mow the dead lawn but the only current runner at the time was the Murray which had no bag.
So I pulled the engine off of that one and prepared to drop it on the craftsman 5.0 (which needed a carb rebuild) but had second thoughts as there seemed to be an air gap on the Briggs engine (which I found is normal... heh)
Thankfully a friend gave me his 2010 craftsman but telling me it wouldnít start... if I could fix it it was mine. Well it had that common seized choke butterfly issue solved by 10 squirts of carb cleaner.
Then it became a ďwhat can I get thatís even betterĒ thing... iím Sure a lot of you understand.
Another consideration was finding an electric mower my mom could push. Well iíve Been somewhat lucky in finding 2 free ones but both need batteries, which iím Prepared to replace with new slaís. Then it occurred to me... KEY START! Oooh much better on my (and moms) backs.
So that explained the craftsman hi-van and the cub cadet. Frankly I was looking for high horsepower units to put onto the Mclane (that thing is a beast) because reasons (insert random tool time noises)

I think I will start collecting lawn boyís (I had a couple more as a teen but dad threw them away... running S/P ones!)
Going to try to get one of the 6.5 hp 2 stroke ones into the peopleís republik of kalifornia heh heh heh)

So there we are. Sorry aboot the long rambling intro. I will do my best to read the forums before I ask dumb questions
More to come (and pictures!)
HorribleHarry
Ps.sorry for the stock photo of the craftsman 80th... will fix soon.
