Lawnboy Quits

Hi All!

Recently was gifted a Lawnboy 10324-Duraforce SilverPro with the 6.5 hp engine. Gentleman giving it away said it would not start. Indeed he was correct. Two carb cleanings then finally a new carb (with the correct, larger jet and idle plate), new spark plug and a "baked" coil later it starts on the first pull....but shuts down after about 3 minutes. It slows then stops-like a fuel issue. It will restart in two or three pulls. Checked the gas cap, but it still happens even if it's loose or off. Seems to like Truefuel 50:1 mix over my home brew mix as well but still happens.

It cuts like a demon when its running and I love the lightweight feel but frankly I don't have room for machines that don't pull their weight. I'd love to get it running but will cut my losses if needed.

Anyway, should I still consider the coil suspect, given the symptoms? I thought that would cause a more no start issue but who knows. Also open to any other ideas as well.

Thanks in advance!

Dennis

Check for spark when cold to get a feel for strength, then do it after it shuts down. I suspect the coil.
