YTH 22V46

new battery, fully charged. It tries to turn over, however its like it wont turn passed the compression stroke. If I keep clicking it, it will finally turn passed the compression stroke and start. Is there a component failure somewhere?

Couple things to check, assuming Briggs engine. Check your oil level, if it's high smell for gas contamination. Pull your spark plugs and try the starter briefly, it should spin over without any of the issues you have right now. If it still won't turn it's electrical or starter related. Most likely you need to adjust the valves. When they get loose the compression release doesn't work and the valves stay shut causing high compression the starter can't easily overcome. The fun part is on a Briggs it could be a broken compression release, a spun or worn cam lobe or a bent push rod caused by a valve guide sneaking up out of the head.
