Husqvarna with a 24hp v-twin

Hey all, having an issue with a 24hp v-twin. Owner bought a aftermarket carb (hipa). Started great and ran great. First time cutting grass it died after an hour. New plugs were black. Plugs were cleaned and re-installed, it didnít want to start on itís own, only after starting fluid. Ran fine again once it started. I tested it running and cutting, the eng seemed underpowered and slight surge at top rpm deck on. Could it be the new carb running rich? There are no adjustments for anything. Choke butterflies not open enough?

I had a Twin on a Husky that I took the carb off of to clean, and then ran the fuel line in front of the carb instead of behind by mistake....the air filter pinched the fuel line enough to restrict the fuel and caused it to die. Also if you have the wrong fuel filter on a gravity fuel tank without a fuel pump....the bowl will run dry as the fuel filter can restrict flow.....then after it restarts, will run fine until it does it later.

I would re-check those sparkplugs again...are they black again? If so,,,I would suspect choke plate not wide open..or simply a bad new carb...Not unusual..in my experiences....I would also recheck the connection of the pulse hose to the fuel pump..and be sure your oil fill cap is on...

So unfortunately it was the carb, the new choke lever was not spring loaded and the choke plate was half open with choke not engaged. So I ultrasonic cleaned the old carb and rebuilt it with the new carb stuff and re-installed. Owner said today it runs like it should now. I also put new plugs in.

Good to see you fixed it....Too bad the choke control couldn't be resolved....new carbs are pricey...so are the overhaul kits...

I even went with a brand (aftermarket) that Iíve used plenty of before with no issue. Oh well, Iíll pay attention now closely to the details next time
