Blue Smoke going Uphill - Ring Bypass?

Hi, I have an Ariens lawn tractor with a 16.5 HP single valve Briggs engine that runs well but burns oil and emits blue smoke out of the muffler when going uphill or tilted left. Thought it was a head gasket but after taking it to my local mower repair shop was told it has "Ring Bypass". Has anyone heard of this and can tell me what it means?
Thanks

It's missing a valve.

Could be the crankcase breather if it's a flathead.

might just have too much oil in it and when you go up an incline the oil gets too high and gets burned off.

make sure your oil level is on the mark and not over the line, then see if it still smokes.

motors with too much oil often smoke when going up or down hills, stopping, or when starting the engine. anytime the oil gets too high it will get sucked into the engine and burned off causing smoke

If the oil is too high.....drain it and put a gas shut-off on it.....those Intek carbs a famous for headgasket problems and needle leakage. The little spring on the intake side of the valve guide seal fails and it will cause oil burning as well. I've never seen a ring problem....
