Broken pto switch connector

We have a Cub Cadet Model 2176 lawn tractor. The pto connector has broken "teeth" and loose wires. This is the part that the main wiring goes into, then it gets plugged into the pto switch, which turns on and off the mower blades. The parts manual doesn't have a replacement part number for this item. It appears to be part of the main wire harness. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix it?

I would try to find a salvage cub and hack the connector, then soder and heatshrink it to your harness

but I do thinks its the main harness

If the problem is in the connector coming off the clutch, you should be able to go to a Radio Shack or other electronic store and buy a matching pair of connectors and solder them in place. Be sure to use plenty of electrical tape/tubing as mentioned above. Should get you by for a couple of dollars.

Another gold mine of parts would be an auto salvage yard.

Let's work together to make this the BEST lawnmower forum on the web!

By looking at a picture of the PTO , you can fix this with the right size spade connectors on each wire ... just bend the terminals a tiny bit , this way your terminals won't touch. Here is a picture of the switch for reference .

Yea he could, its just spade connectors, he could use the marine ones that have guards on them to cover the connection so the will not touch

may want to take a paint pen or hobby paint and put a colored dot on the plastic by each terminal to match the color of the wire
