Default Wanted - Eclipse reel mowers

I'm really looking to find a sulky for the Eclipse Parkhound and Rocket model reel mowers. I'm also interested in the mowers, parts and their accessories as well.

I have an Rolloway and a later model (turquoise) Rocket if you're interested. Too many toys, need to start thinning the herd a little.

Thanks for the offer, but I'm finding myself to be in the same sort of boat you're in. Too many mowers, and other projects, and too little time and space.

Default Need Tires

Hey Fellas,

I am in need of 2 tires for my Eclipse Rocket. Would anyone have any off of a parts machine that they would be willing to sell? I first thought about just replacing them with plain rubber tires until I took the until I took the wheel off and saw that the tires are actually grooved to fit the hubs. Makes repacement a bit tough.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

John

Hey, welcome to the site!! Nice to see another Eclipse owner!

Yeah, regarding tires, there are some on Ebay that should work. When I restored my old Lawn Queen, I bought these and they worked out great, they are just a little bit tricky to install though. John Deere Scotts Gas Reel Turf Lawn Mower Wheel Tire | eBay

The tires can be opened up to expand a little bit, but if the measurements of these are not real close to what your's are, contact the seller and see if he has any others that might work. Often times, this same seller will list auctions for other reel mower tires.

You should start a thread for your mower, we'd love to see it!

One other thing,

Not sure if you've come across this site before, but thought you might like to check it out as it's all about Eclipse reel mowers! http://www.angelfire.com/planet/eclipsereelmowers/

Enjoy!

I'm still in search of the elusive sulky for the Eclipse Rocket and Parkhound mowers. It's the one shown in the bottom center picture on this page from the 1959 Eclipse brochure.

I'm also on the look out for vintage Jacobsen sulky.

Hey Bruce,

I would post want ad over on Engine Ads as well if you haven't already done so. I've occasionally posted ads there over the years and have always been surprised at the responses I've gotten.

Here's the sort of thing I'm looking for. The one on the left is a sulky for the Eclipse Larks, Rockets and Parkhounds. It was also referred to as the Model "M" Series 475.

The one on the left is, for lack of better terminology, a simple two wheeled "trailer" kind of sulky suitable for towing behind a Lawn King. Jacobsen made different kinds, including a steering sulky, that wouldn't work on the King.
