Default troy bilt rearend problems

I have 2004 troy bilt super bronco 42" automatic. When you put the mower in foward it will not move. Rearend grinds and clicks but will not pull itself. I have taken rearend apart and did not see anything ovious. Anyone have any suggestions?

The description sure sounds like the transmission must be shot. I don't know a lot about these tractors, but I did find a few complaints about the drive train when I looked them up. What year is is yours, Gorillarms? Gear drive or Hydrostatic??
