Well, I went to the Lowe's in Moline, IL. They just had the usual assortment of mowers and lawn tractors sitting around at that store. Since I was going to run across the river, I just stopped in at the Lowe's in Davenport, IA. They didn't have any sitting our either, but I did find a catalog of lawn equipment they sell, and it was in it, so I asked at the customer service desk about it. Nice lady there told me that they had gotten two of them in, but before they got them out on display, they received an email telling them not to sell them. From what she was told there had been some kind of issue with the Raven company, and they could not sell them at this time.
Anyway, it's a concept I can see as being useful and one I'd like to see developed. Two different things in the power equipment world come to mind.
For those who might remember the GE Elec-Trak series of battery powered tractors and equipment;
And more recently, Honda's hybrid snow blower.
Honda Snowblowers: HS1336iAS Hybrid Snowblower
The biggest problem I see with the Raven is the exclusiveness of it's sales through Lowe's. Not that I have a problem with Lowe's for any reason, but I just haven't noticed a garage with certified small engine mechanics hanging around it.
